I am so thrilled with the Ipsy Bag this month, this is my favorite one so far. It’s called Black Magic.
First up…the bag! This pink, black and white bag is adorable with cute little halloween cartoons such as a cat, witch and spell book, the zipper pull is even a ghost. It’s going in my purse now.
Inside my Ipsy bag:
With a quarter of a million dollars, you could buy a lot of things.
One could possibly purchase a home,a luxury car, a college education for your kids, Or, if you’re feeling a little more adventurous, you could always go on a shopping spree at get that $250,000 mani-pedi you’ve always wanted.
I’m being serious guys, I’m not making this *ish up! Back in 2012 one of the most expensive nail polish in the world had been unveiled (I know im like 4 years delayed).
It contains 267-carats of black diamonds, the tiny bottle of varnish, by Los Angeles-based luxury jeweler Azature, has been priced at $250,000.
The one-off product had been targeted at the ‘one-percenters’ according to a press released from the company. Kelly Osbourne to be one of them.
Azature, the one-named designer behind the brand, said that the black diamond is the ‘ultimate fine jewel’.
He added: ‘One day I thought, “why not showcase this style on nails?” So I developed a Black Diamond Nail Polish with the same attention and quality as my jewelry in order to preserve the elegance of the black diamond.’
For those of you who have no idea what black diamond is, it is actually the ultimate fine jewel, with a combination of mystery, sophistication and beauty. This is why black diamond was the main piece of jewel Azature thought to showcase on nails.
The Hollywood-based Azature, whose jewelry has adorned stars such as Rihanna and Beyonce, has called the black diamond the “ultimate fine jewel.”
It is not the first time a nail polish has been sold for such an inflated cost.
So today i’m going to be reviewing the oh-so-fav brand Colourpop Cosmetics Ultra Matte lipsticks.
currently colourpop have released around 33 different colors all varying from browns, nudes to vibrant pinks and purples. These lipsticks were released a few ago and their website had completely crashed as people were going crazy. Each lipstick retailed at $6.00 USD for 0.11oz, which in my opinion is a steal, so I somehow managed to snag 2 of them just before they sold out (Zipper – ColourPop & Drive-In – ColourPop). As of right now they are completely sold out but i’m sure they will be restocking them, so keep an eye out.
What i absolutely love about Colourpop and why you seem me constantly raving over their lippistix is that they have an amazing pigmentation and color pay off as well as the fact that almost all their products are priced pretty reasonably.
The ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip is basically the same product that everyone has been raving about recently. It’s basically a liquid lipstick that dries down to a ultra-matte, flat finish that doesn’t budge easily. These are probably one of the most driest liquid lipstick’s that i’ve used. if you are looking for a pure matte finish lipstick that does not budge then this is the one for you. If your not so much into the whole matte drying consistency flex because they’re too drying for your lips then you will most likely hate this product. Personally i hate the consistency on my lips. I’m usually a huge fan of matte lipsticks i absolutely love Colourpops matte lippiestix collection however their ultra matte collection are way to dry, flakey and almost powdery, but there is absolutely no moisture in this formula. I
When i first applied the lipstick to my lips i could feel it drying straight away so you would want to be very careful and fast making sure you don’t make any mistakes because not only is this lipstick fast drying but its also very hard to remove. once it dries on to your lips it will not budge. the formula is very similar to Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick or the LimeCrime liquid lipsticks – it has a pretty thin and smooth consistency it glides on pretty nicely and has a pretty intense color pigment.
With a product like this, a good lip prep is essential especially If you are like me and find this formula a bit too drying, you can always just use a more moisturizing base coat to your lips before applying the lipstick (I would recommend using Vaseline Lip Therapy), Or you can just apply lipgloss over the ultra matte lipstick and this should help bring some moisture back to your lips. I noticed when i applied the lipstick without any base coat, my lips started to feel as though they were tightening up and flaking almost straight away. so i thought to reapply another coat to my lips which might help but that didn’t help the texture at all.
Removing these lipsticks can be a bit of a pain in the butt, but doesn’t mean its not possible. All you will need is a good oil or oil based makeup remover like the Cleanse Off Oil by MAC.
I absolutely love my Real Techniques makeup brushes, and i’m pretty sure im not the only one who thinks so. Around the world, Real Techniques brushes are some of the most popular makeup brushes available. And that’s for good reason: the brushes are labeled and color-coded (gold for foundation, purple for eyes, and pink for finishing), they are hand-cut to achieve the perfect shape, they stand on their own so you can display them easily on your vanity, and they have wonderful soft yet synthetic bristles, which means they are cruelty-free. One of the best aspects is that the brushes are also very affordable without sacrificing quality. The only problem is that they offer so many makeup brushes it’s hard to know which one is best for you.
First up in my Real Techniques makeup brush review is the Core Collection set. Four brushes in one case – this set might be all you need to create a overall look. its a great starter set for those who are not able to splash out on the more luxury brands.
After trying these, I’ve gotta say, I am very pleased. For starters, it comes in a nice travel-friendly case and contains four brushes with synthetic bristles. The brushes are all soft and don’t feel harsh against my skin. Not to mention, the handle on these feel light and sturdy which makes them quite comfortable to use.
Even though they aren’t as dense as I would like them to be but that doesn’t affect their performance. On the bright side, these dry real quick as opposed to my Sigma/MAC brushes which take a whole day to dry. Moreover, I haven’t noticed any shedding or splaying so far.
Real Techniques Core Collection Brushes – Buffing brush
I am extremely happy with the Buffing brush. It’s excellent for applying liquid foundation, BB cream and powder based products. I love the way it blends makeup and creates a flawless base. I especially like to use this to blend out my contour, i feel it works well and is definitely a must-have!
Real Techniques Core Collection Brushes – Contour brush
The Contour brush is my second favorite from the collection. I like that it’s little round and pointed at the tip as it helps create that precise contour in a matter of seconds. But if you don’t like a sharp look, you can easily blend your bronzer or contouring powder for a diffused effect. I also use it to highlight parts on my face like cheekbones and nose. Apparently, it looks small but it’s very precise in its application which allows for controlled lines so you’re never at the risk of overdoing which is great.
Real Techniques Core Collection Brushes – Pointed Foundation brush
To be honest, I am slightly disappointed with the Pointed Foundation brush because I find it too small for foundation application. especially as i have a more rounder face it takes way too much effort to apply foundation with this brush than it should. It’s been sitting in my stash just like that. But I do tend to use it from time to time to apply my liquid concealers as it works will to get into those hard-to-reach areas like around the nose and mouth.
Real Techniques Core Collection Brushes – Detailer brush
The Detailer brush is good. however I prefer to use it as a lip brush. You could also highlight your cupid’s bow or the inner corner of your eyes with it.
Overall, I think the Core Collection is fantastic for makeup newbies and budget-conscious girls. I find these brushes pretty versatile; you can use one brush in so many different ways. I highly recommend!
This brush is big. It’s also wonderfully soft, and is perfect for applying your powder and mineral foundations. It picks up just the right amount of powder to create a flawless base with excellent coverage. Your skin will look clean and beautiful with the help of this brush.
Real Techniques – Powder brush
If you want to get to an expert level of foundation application, try this soft yet firm face brush. You’ll want the Expert Face Brush both to apply and blend your cream or liquid foundations. The bristles are non-porous which means that they’re easy to clean and won’t waste any of your liquid or cream – it will all go on your face and not soak into your brush. This brush will make your pores vanish.
Real Techniques – Expert Face Brush
If you want your daily makeup to look like it’s professionally done, get this wonderful Stippling Brush. Unlike buffing, you’ll want to pick up just a small amount of foundation in the white tips of the brush and dot your face gently. You will get a beautiful, clean finish that, while looking airbrushed, will never look heavy.
Real Techniques Brushes – Stippling brush
I love this big and soft Blush Brush. It’s nicely tapered, which makes it comfortable and easy to swipe on color without any fuss. If you want to apply more precise and specific color you might want a smaller brush, but this Blush Brush is for those of us who want the job done quickly, and done right.
Real Techniques – Blush Brush
I hope that this Real Techniques Makeup Brushes review has helped you decide which of their many wonderful brushes to work with. I’m sure you will love the brushes, and, since they never shed, are quick and easy to clean, and keep their shape, they will stay in your makeup kit for years in perfect condition.
What do you think about the brushes? Have you tried it yet?
I know how tough it can be to apply makeup to your dry skin it really its’nt a simple task! And once you think youve mastered your foundation routine and have a smooth application going, you catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror on the way out and realize that’s not the case. You’re already late for something at this point and we all know that starting your full-face routine all over again is not an option! The dreaded nose peeling, foundation flaking, concealer cracking — it’s all preventable. For those extra special moments when your dry skin refuses to behave, here’s how to ensure an all-day, flake-free complexion.
The Magic lies in the Prep Work
1. Begin your routine by using a creamy exfoliating cleanser with gentle beads to sweep away any dead cells sitting on the skin’s surface.
2. Use a fast-absorbing moisturizer, so that the product can quickly work its way into your skin, delivering immediate relief and hydration.
3. An essential step in prepping your skin for a flawless makeup application is primer. The creamy texture will keep skin moisturized and act as a “blur,” smoothing out pores and any imperfections.
I absolutely love using my ‘Porefessional’ by Benefit Cosmetics. A small amount is sufficient to cover many areas on the face. The product blends well with various skin tones, as well as other make up. And I found that one tube would usually last me several months if a tiny amount is used with each application. However the only down side to it is that its a little over priced and retails at around $31+ however you can find mini version at Ulta and Sephore for as low as $10.
The RIGHT Formula
Dry skin is practically begging for nourishment (with flakes acting as tears!), which is why liquid or light and creamy textured makeup is the only way to go. Anything heavy or cakey will almost instantly cause irritation and botch your beautiful makeup job.
I would opt for a more lightweight foundation like the Nars weightless foundation. it would be best to use a synthetic foundation brush since it’s gentle enough to keep your skin from flaking. Then, use a damp Beauty Blender to press makeup into your skin for a more natural, dewy look. The same goes for blush! Use a creamy compact or liquid stain instead of powder for added hydration that won’t crack.
This is the foundation I reach for everyday without even thinking twice. It stays on all day, it has no SPF so during the day I can just add my own sunscreen. It’s the perfect shade and does not oxidize on my skin! Best way to apply this is with a damp beauty blender and my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush.
Dry Skin DON’TS
1. Do not use your fingers to apply makeup, as they’ll absorb the much-needed moisture in your skin.
2. Stay away from powders, unless you must use a little around your T-zone. Go for oil-blotting sheets instead like NYX Blotting Paper.
3. Skip the waterproof formulas as they suck out skin’s moisture, which will lead to flaking.
